Career Preparation Events

Student Teachers must attend both the Job Search Tools Workshop and the Meet and Greet in order to receive credit for the current Professional Development Sequence semester.  Required for:

  • EC-6 ESL Student Teachers,
  • EC-6 Bilingual Student Teachers,
  • Special Education Student Teachers, and
  • Kinesiology Interns

Job Search Tools Workshop

A presentation led by Krista Marx, human resource coordinator from Elgin ISD, will provide detailed information on navigating the job search process. We encourage you to bring copies of your resume. Pizza will be served.

School District Recruiter Meet and Greets

Recruiters from school districts will be stationed throughout the room, ready to answer questions on their district hiring process, interview skills, resume tips, etc. Students are encouraged to dress professionally, bring resumes, network, and ask questions in preparation for the Teacher Fair. There is no formal presentation. Rather, the event is designed to serve as a rehearsal for the job fair. Pizza will be served. Please note that there are TWO Meet and Greets. One will host recruiters from Texas school districts, and the other will host out-of-state recruiters. Student teachers must attend one of the two Meet and Greets to attend in order to fulfill the PDS requirement, depending on their schedules and geographic interests.

These events are moderated and presented by the Education Career Services staff and are open to all UT Austin students.
