Applying for the LEAD Stackable Graduate Certificate – Degree Seeking Students

LEAD serves adult learners (e.g., graduate students) who have an interest in equity and digital literacy and serving learners approximately aged 5-18. Two types of adults can apply for the LEAD program: (1) degree-seeking graduate students and (2) non-degree-seeking graduate students. Please follow the instructions below if you are a degree-seeking graduate student.
How to Apply If You Are a Degree-Seeking Graduate Student
You are a degree-seeking graduate student from within or beyond the College of Education at UT Austin if you are already accepted into or engaged in a master’s or doctoral degree at UT Austin. To apply, you will complete an online application, via a secure UT online survey, in which you answer questions related to your current degree and your interest in the LEAD, your experience with educational settings and a professional statement.
Application Steps
- Review the LEAD application (PDF) so you know what questions will be asked and what to prepare for submission.
- Prepare the answers to the survey questions.
- Prepare your documents for submission, including:
- your resumé
- your professional statement
- Go ahead and complete the application.
- Faculty will review your application and be in touch within 2 weeks.

Summer Semester: April 1
Fall Semester: July 1
Please note: the LEAD Stackable Graduate Certificate accepts rolling admissions, up to the deadline noted above. If you want to apply early and hear from us, you may. We will review applications as they are submitted.

Admissions and Program Requirements
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the U.S.; or proof of equivalent training at a foreign institution.
Admission requirements include a 3.0 cumulative GPA for degree-seeking students and a demonstrated interest in issues of digital literacy, technology integration, K-12 education and equity. The program will consider applications with lower GPAs. If you feel that your grade point averages or test scores are not valid indicators of your ability, please follow up with an email explaining your concerns.

Prepare Your Professional Statement
Your statement should focus on your experience with K-12, college-level, or community education in which you have worked or plan to work with learners aged 4-18 and your interests in digital literacy, technology integration, K-12 education, humanizing pedagogy and design of equitable classroom spaces that have drawn you to apply for the LEAD Stackable Certificate.
Update Your Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
This document should summarize and chronicle your academic and professional positions and achievements, including any awards and/or publications for which you are credited.
Complete the Application
Application Status
Once all application materials are uploaded and completed, the faculty will engage in a review process which will take about 2 weeks.
