Gareth Gingell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education at Dell Medical School. He is an alumnus of the STEM Education Program at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on race, equity, and power in STEM spaces. His dissertation focused on issues of race and power in pre-clerkship medical education, with particular attention to how race is portrayed and navigated in problem-based learning environments. Prior to his time at UT, Gareth attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine and taught high school Biology and Anatomy. Gareth was awarded a Texas New Scholars Fellowship and the University of Texas Dissertation Writing Fellowship. He also received the Outstanding Teaching Award for Biology Instruction.
