PHEL Alumna Wins American Association of Blacks in Higher Education Dissertation of the Year

Tracie Lowe, Ph.D.  ’18, alumna from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy’s Higher Education Leadership program, is the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education (AABHE) 2019 Dissertation of the Year winner. She shares this honor with Donte Bernard. Lowe’s dissertation exampled the activism experiences of black women graduate students and was supervised by Richard Reddick.

Lowe is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Urban Policy Research and Analysis.

She was recognized at the AABHE Conference in March.

The American Association of Blacks in Higher Education (AABHE) represents blacks in higher education on a national level. Over the years, AABHE has been involved in numerous initiatives such as addressing the pipeline of Black faculty and staff in higher education, bringing issues pertinent to Black faculty and staff to the attention of the larger academic community and recognizing African American achievements and accomplishments to higher education.
