Join us for a special lecture with Dr. Charles Stocking from Western University in Ontario, Canada where he’ll discuss the training methods and health of gladiators and other ancient athletes.

This event is free and open to the public, no registration is required.

About the Speaker

Dr. Stocking earned his BA and Master’s degrees at Stanford University then completed his doctorate at the University of California, Los Angeles where he also worked as a strength coach for the Athletic Department. His area of interest includes Archaic and Classical Greek Literature and has written four books, including two recent co-authored releases: Ancient Greek Athletics: Primary Sources in Translation in the Oxford University Press, and A Cultural History of Sport in Antiquity in the Bloomsbury Press.
