June 24, 2018 - June 26, 2018

Hyatt Regency Austin

The focus of this year's summer conference will be on school safety. We are working with experts to create a robust lineup of informative presentations and sessions in which school leaders share their successful strategies for keeping schools safe.

The conference will kick off at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 24, with a keynote presentation by Alissa Parker, co-founder of Safe and Sound Schools and the mother of Emilie Parker, one of the 20 children who died tragically in the Sandy Hook school shootings in 2012.

Monday's keynote speaker is Michael Dorn, an international authority on school safety and the executive director of Safe Havens International, the world’s largest school safety center. Monday’s program will also feature an interactive session on Safe and Effective School Emergency Operation Exercises.

The conference will also feature sessions on crisis communication and programs such as Rachel’s Challenge, social and emotional learning, safety and security considerations in school design, safety practices implemented by school districts, and presentations by the Texas School Safety Center.

The summer conference will wrap up by noon, Tuesday, June 26.
