Robin Atwood graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Texas at Austin, earned a MS in Exercise Physiology from the University of Arizona and then returned to the University of Texas to earn an Ed.D. in Health Education. Atwood spent a number of years working for the YMCA and in worksite wellness prior to returning to academia. She lives in Austin, Texas with her husband and has two grown daughters.

Atwood has spent over 15 years working on applied research projects focused on physical activity, obesity, worksite wellness, nutrition education evaluation, diabetes, and HIV prevention and care. She has worked with a number of programs at the Texas Department of State Health Services including the Women, Infants & Children Program (WIC), Obesity, Diabetes and HIV Prevention and Care. Dr. Atwood’s contracts focus on providing content and evaluation expertise, capacity building and program development for stakeholders at the federal, state and local level. She is currently working on issues surrounding changes in health care delivery systems impacted by health care reform and capacity building utilizing complexity science, generative leadership and an appreciative approach.
