In light of the recent messages from President Fenves’ and our own Dean, Dean Martinez, surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on our campus, I wanted to send you all a note about how the Student Division will available to support you during this changing time. With classes resuming on March 30 and being delivered online, now, more than ever, it’s important to check your email and Canvas regularly for messages from the College, your Professors, or your Advisor.
The Student Division Advisors and Staff will be available to you via phone, email, and through Zoom. Students are encouraged to continue to call the Front Desk staff (512-471-3223) to schedule appointments with the Front Desk staff. Once your appointment is scheduled, your Advisor will be notified and they will send you a Zoom meeting invitation via email which will include the link to the Zoom meeting with your Advisor. You can choose to do the meeting with or without video, whichever you prefer. The majority of these appointments will be 30 minutes long, however, some appointments may be 45 minutes.
Q-drop and Pass/Fail Deadline
We’re working with the Registrar’s Office and waiting patiently as they figure out how they will handle Q-drops and P/F requests this semester. As soon as we know how that process is going to work, we’ll let you all know with messages sent through our weekly Ed Bulletin. Please make sure that you check your filters and/or junk mail folders to make sure you’re receiving the Ed Bulletin.
You should run your interactive degree audits to make sure you’ve completed all your requirements and that your audit shows 100 percent (or will show that by August 2020. Also, if you haven’t done so already, you should apply to graduate if you’ll complete all your classes by May or apply to walk if you’ll complete all your classes by August.
At this time, contrary to reports by some media outlets, the University has not made any final decisions about graduation ceremonies this semester. Graduating students should be on the lookout for a message next week from Kristin Moore, our Events Coordinator, with information about our commencement ceremony and the ticket requirement/sign-up.
