Brian Farr, Clinical Associate Professor
Brian Farr was selected to be inducted into the Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Honor. His induction presentation will take place at the Southwest Athletic Trainers’ Association (SWATA) Texas Forum on July 21st.
Sara Hussain, Assistant Professor
Dr. Hussain was selected as a Neurorehabilitation and Restorative Neuroscience Training Network (NRNTN) K12 Scholar on a grant from the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research, NIH/NICHD. Her appointment will begin August 1. This early career development and mentorship program seeks to prepare individuals with advanced neurorehabilitation related degrees to identify and implement methods to enhance recovery following CNS injury, and to influence health care and policy to benefit individuals with disabilities.

Elizabeth Swanson, Research Associate Professor
Director of the Response to Intervention Institute, Meadows Center
Dr. Swanson will serve as PI on a recently awarded 5-year, $4 million grant funded by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES). The project will examine the efficacy of peer tutoring focused on improving reading outcomes for struggling readers who attend YMCA afterschool care. The team will work with 1,800 students served by 60 YMCA of Greater Williamson County and YMCA of Middle Tennessee afterschool care locations.
Jessica Toste, Associate Professor
Dr. Toste was selected as the winner of the Council for Learning Disabilities 2022 Floyd G. Hudson Outstanding Service Award. The Floyd G. Hudson Award is presented by the Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD) for outstanding performance and commitment by a professional who works in the field of learning disabilities in a role outside of the classroom.
Sarah Gorsky King, Doctoral Candidate
Sarah Gorsky King was selected to receive the Texas Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD) Mini-Grant Award. Award funds will be used for research and the 2023 International Conference on Learning Disabilities where she will present her research.

Connie Dawes, Director
Connie Dawes accepted an invitation to serve a 3-year term on the National Council for Community and Educational Partnership’s (NCCEP) GEAR UP Advisory Commission. The Advisory Commission plays a critical role for the NCCEP as their primary sounding board on issues related to all facets of their organizational work, including government relations, programs, and strategic initiatives.
