Avani Chhaya is a Masters student in Educational Leadership and Policy. Her research interests center around issues of equity, particularly with low-income and second-generation student populations. In the fall of 2017, Avani was selected as a Policy Fellow with Leadership for Educational Equity.
Avani brings a background teaching English Language Arts to fifth and sixth graders in New Orleans. She attended The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she obtained her English and secondary education degree. Currently, she is the Senior Outreach Program Coordinator at The Childrens Research Center at The University of Texas at Austin.
