I am a long term early childhood educator who has worked in a variety of programs, including a university laboratory school, Head Start, employer sponsored childcare, after school care, and in-home care. I began teaching college classes for early childhood majors at New Mexico State University in 1999, and have continued to teach in-building and online courses ever since. My research interests include how early childhood teachers are influenced by policy reform particularly quality rating and improvement systems (QRIS), play as an evidenced based curriculum, early childhood teacher education, and how adults decide how much risky play to allow children to participate in.
