Ryan T Murtha
Ryan is a Ph.D. student in the Physical Culture & Sport Studies program. Originally from Philadelphia, he majored in economics and history as an undergrad before coming to Texas to get his master's in Sport Management. Ryan is the current graduate student representative on the executive board of the North American Society for Sport History, and an assistant editor for Iron Game History. His writing has won awards from both the American Kinesiology Academy and the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport. Ryan has published on a number of topics, from the history of backyard swimming pools to the links between American physical culturists and Italian fascists in the interwar period. He is currently working on his dissertation on the history of American sports writing.
