Associate Professors Anthony and Kefferlyn Brown were recently interviewed about their research on the Teacher’s College Record’s web series The Voice. The Browns discuss their research article, “The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same: Excavating Race and the Enduring Racisms in U.S. Curriculum.”
The article examines curriculum and textbooks from three time periods; after reconstruction, mid-century, and through the 1990s and up to the present. The Browns discuss how even though the textbooks do change over time, the ideas of racism and marginalization have stayed prevelant, even up to present day.
