The Next Chapter: COE Graduate Nickoll Santos Garcia Reflects on Her Growth at COE as She Looks to Her Future at Harvard

Gilman, Impact and Rappaport Scholar Nickoll Santos Garcia arrived at UT Austin as a cautious, first-generation college student. Now a COE graduate and recipient of multiple honors, as well as the Michael Mizell Mankins Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Education, she leaves for Boston confidently with her Youth and Communities Studies degree, multiple minors and a public policy certificate in hand.

The Next Chapter: Bethany Hamilton Bhat Overcomes Personal Challenges and the COVID-19 Pandemic to Complete Her Ph.D., Earning Her Third Degree from UT Austin

After facing many obstacles and the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bethany Hamilton is graduating with a Ph.D. in educational psychology, specializing in quantitative methods. This milestone is only the beginning as she prepares to move to the Netherlands for postdoctoral research.
