The College of Education proudly partners with UT Elementary School, UT University Charter School and UT High School to provide outstanding public education to students in Texas and worldwide.
These schools, led by Executive Director Debra Cantú, UT High School Superintendent, Michael Caudill and UT Elementary School and University Charter School Superintendent, Nicole Whetstone provide innovative learning environments, collaborate with faculty on research and training, and apply evidence-based practices to expand educational access and deliver personalized support. Together, they help advance our mission to transform lives and educate learners from Pre-K through Ph.D.

UT Elementary School
308 Students, Pre-K – 5 | Founded 2003
The University of Texas Elementary School (UTES) is a research-based demonstration school located in the heart of East Austin. Founded as part of The University of Texas System’s Every Child, Every Advantage initiative, the school supports PK–16 education and serves as a model for teaching and learning innovation. Operated by The University of Texas at Austin, UT Elementary is an open-enrollment and tuition-free school that uses a lottery-based admission system. The school serves students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, with two classes of 22 students per grade level.

UT University Charter School
1500+ Students, K-12 | Founded 1999
The University of Texas-University Charter School (UT-UCS) is a university charter school district with 24 campuses across Texas, serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Each campus partners with a facility host that provides classroom and office space in specialized settings such as residential treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, residential homes and medical facilities. UT-UCS educators are highly skilled and adept at teaching multi-grade level classes within a single period. In addition to subject-area credentials, all teachers hold special education certification.

UT High School

UT High School Special Purpose District (UTHS) is an accredited public online high school district offering flexible academic program options for students pursuing a high school diploma full time or students taking individual courses or credit by exams while enrolled in another school district. UTHS also offers special services to support students, educators and schools across Texas and beyond. The district’s full-time diploma programs include UT High School for Texas residents, UT International High School for non-Texas residents, and UT High School Empower Academy for adult learners. UTHS is ranked No. 2 among the 25 Best Online High Schools by Best College Reviews.
