Armando Lizarraga • Doctoral Candidate
Department of Educational Leadership and Policy doctoral candidate Armando Lizarraga was selected for UT Austin’s competitive Harrington Dissertation Fellowship, a one-year award for students currently enrolled at UT Austin who are seeking a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or DMA). Fellows are considered following a nomination process by their programs for Continuing University Fellowships. The fellowship is under the The Harrington Graduate Student Fellows Program, which was established by Sybil Harrington as a tribute to her late husband, Donald D. Harrington. It aims to support gifted and ambitious young scholars, who would, in turn, share their knowledge and success with future generations.
This summer, Lizarraga was also selected to receive the Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program (CDIP) followship from California State University. The fellowship prepares promising doctoral students for a future as CSU faculty, including through mentorship from current CSU faculty, professional development and financial support.
Catalina Vasquez • Doctoral Candidate
Department of Educational Leadership and Policy graduate research assistant and doctoral candidate Catalina Vasquez was selected as a Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness Fellow. The organization is dedicated to advancing research relevant to practice, ranging from early childhood to post-secondary education, and works toward generating knowledge and supporting the application of concepts in an innovative and interdisciplinary manner. Her fellowship research focused on how students and communities benefit from workforce centered programs across the nation.

Mark O’Reilly • Professor
Department of Special Education professor Mark O’Reilly has been awarded the Editorial Contribution Award, which is part of the Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Awards. Springer Nature is a business that focuses on advancing research, science and learning through their products and publications. This award recognizes a recipient’s careful assessment of submissions and rigorous peer review to ensure scientific accuracy in the published record.
