Ricardo "Rico" Gonzalez, M.Ed. (he/él) is a student affairs professional with 15 years of higher education experience. He most recently served as the Administrative Program Coordinator for the Texas Education Research Consortium, part of Project MALES (Mentoring to Achieve Latino Educational Success), at The University of Texas at Austin. Rico has also previously been a Program Manager, Coordinator for Special Projects, and Director.
Rico earned a B.A. in Politics and a minor in Sociology from Oberlin College, an M.Ed. in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Texas State University, and is a current doctoral student in the Executive Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership at The University of Texas at Austin. Originally from Houston, TX, Rico is the son of Mexican immigrants and is dedicated to the success of BIPOC students. He co-founded the Graduate Students Mentoring Undergraduates (GSMU) program at Cornell University focused on connecting BIPOC students to build community and academic success.
Rico's research interests include Latino men, student success, thriving, first-generation college students, and Hispanic-Serving Institutions. His hobbies and interests include tabletop games, Lord of the Rings, Marvel movies, and soccer/fútbol (Go Arsenal, El Tri, & USWNT!).
