Ranked eighth in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, the Department of Educational Psychology is dedicated to advancing knowledge of human behavior as it relates to education. The majority of our programs are at the graduate level and only an undergraduate minor is offered. We train students to work as teachers, counselors, evaluators and researchers in educational environments in order to develop valuable skills in the areas of human development and behavior, the psychology of education, learning theory and research and evaluation methods.

In 2025, Jane Gray began a therapy training clinic within the College of Education for the School/Clinical Child doctoral program, creating a space where students can practice cognitive behavioral therapy with families from UT Elementary School.

After facing many obstacles and the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bethany Hamilton is graduating with a Ph.D. in educational psychology, specializing in quantitative methods. This milestone is only the beginning as she prepares to move to the Netherlands for postdoctoral research.
