A distinguished scholar and founding director of the Center for Research for Community Impact, Martinez championed efforts to improve outcomes for children, families and communities while strengthening the college’s reputation as a leader in education research and practice.

Sherry Field
2018

Sherry Field served as interim dean of the College of Education in 2018 and continued to support Dean Martinez as a trusted advisor following his appointment. A nationally recognized scholar in social studies education and teacher preparation, Field served as dean of the College of Education at Arkansas Tech University after spending many years as a faculty member at UT Austin. Her distinguished career as an educator, researcher and administrator helped strengthen the college’s faculty development, teacher preparation programs and academic excellence.

Manuel J. Justiz served as the College of Education’s dean for 28 years, guiding the college through a period of remarkable expansion and national achievement. A nationally recognized education leader and former director of the National Institute of Education, Justiz championed interdisciplinary collaboration, increased research investment, and helped position the college among the country’s premier institutions for education research and teacher preparation.
