What impact is a marked rise in uncertified teachers having on schools and students in Texas?
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Texas at Austin College of Education and key partners commissioned a study to examine how the different pathways to teacher certification create diverse outcomes for Texas students and impact teacher retention. Now, new findings show that half of teachers in Texas today are uncertified and lacking classroom experience.
This Beyond the Tipping Point webinar will include a presentation of emerging findings from state longitudinal data and interviews with Texas rural and urban district leaders, as well as discussion and recommendations from a panel of experts in the field. Join Dean Charles Martinez, Dr. Laura Torres and other UT Austin researchers to learn more about the potential impact of the rise in uncertified teachers on students, teacher retention and issues related to teacher quality.
