Dan Troxell

Dan J. Troxell is an associate professor of practice and associate director for the Cooperative Superintendency Program in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy at The University of Texas at Austin. He is a former executive director for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) who has extensive leadership experience in multiple distinguished Texas public school districts.

Serving as a Texas superintendent for nearly two decades in Leander ISD and Kerrville ISD, Dr. Troxell was named the 2008 TASB Superintendent of the Year. He was an assistant superintendent and high school principal for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, Allen High School principal, and an assistant principal and classroom teacher in Round Rock ISD.

Demonstrating an ability to drive strategic initiatives and improve educational outcomes across diverse educational settings, Dr. Troxell has earned multiple honors. He was named by Dallas Morning News readers as Best Principal, the Texas Association of Gifted and Talented as the Region 20 Advocate of the Year, and his dissertation was named the Outstanding Supervision Dissertation from the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Troxell is a two-time Longhorn graduate, having earned his Ph.D. in Education Administration and a B.A. with honors in Government from UT Austin. He has experience as an adjunct professor at several universities, enhancing educational practices through academic contributions.
