Katie McKay

Katie McKay is a coordinator of the Longhorns in Residence program and of a cohort of pre-service teachers in the undergraduate EC-6 ESL educator preparation program. Katie has been an educator since 2001. She has taught multilingual students and their teachers in Fairfax County, Virginia, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Austin, Texas, and Guadalajara, Mexico. Since 2007, Katie has filled leadership roles in the Heart of Texas Writing Project and its national organization, the National Writing Project. In those spaces, she has worked as a teacher consultant, led conferences and created resources for teachers of multilingual students to support students' acquisition and growth of multiple languages across reading, writing, speaking and listening.
