Wajiha Saqib is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy. She has a PhD in Education Policy and Planning from the College of Education at UT Austin. She has been a Fulbright Scholar and previously received her masters in Education Policy from The George Washington University. She studies gender gaps in education from a comparative international lens using mixed-methods and CritQuant methods.
Her research looks at neoliberal education markets and gender gaps, comparing the Global North and Global South. She also studies teacher labor markets and bilingual education programs and gender gaps in education.
Wajiha has worked in the non-profit sector in Pakistan and the US, on projects related to education for the marginalized communities, especially girls from lower SES. She is the founder of a start-up, Alif Se Yeh Urdu Hub which teaches Urdu as a Foreign Language to students all over the world. Her organization created its own curriculum and pedagogy for Urdu language teaching. She volunteers for a Citizen-led movement for education of the marginalized communities, called Coin The Education based in Sindh, Pakistan. Wajiha helps the initiative in Fund Raising and Awareness Campaigns. In her spare time, she likes to volunteer for Theatre for Social Change and likes to implement Drama-based Pedagogy in Education.
