Kiyomi Sánchez-Suzuki Colegrove
Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, 2015
Kiyomi Sánchez-Suzuki Colegrove Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Bilingual Bicultural Education at Texas State University. Her work centers on better understanding the curricular and pedagogical preferences of Latinx immigrant parents and the relationship between home and school particularly in the early grades. Using video-cued ethnography, she studies how their ideas, beliefs, and experiences compare across multiple schools, communities, and contexts.
Her research privileges the voices and views of Latinx immigrant parents and demonstrates ways in which administrators and policymakers can learn from them and have more reciprocal types of relationships. Colegrove has published findings in the journals of Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood Education, Bilingual Research Journal, Harvard Educational Review, Teachers College Record, and Asia-Pacific Journal of Research in Early Childhood Education. She has conducted research projects in the United States, Chile, New Zealand, and Australia. Colegrove received her Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education at The University of Texas-Austin.
