Lance D. Fusarelli is Professor and Interim Department Head in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development at North Carolina State University. He is the author or editor of 7 books and more than 60 journal articles and book chapters. Recent publications include the Handbook of Education Politics and Policy (2nd ed., Routledge), “Federal education policy from Reagan to Obama: Convergence, divergence, and ‘control’” (with B. Fusarelli) in the Handbook of Education Politics and Policy (2nd ed., pp. 189-210) and “Implementing the common core: How educators interpret curriculum reform,” Educational Policy, 29(1), 111-139. His areas of research include the politics of education, school reform, and federal education politics. In 2012, he was ranked 79th among scholars whose research contributes most substantially to public debates about schools and schooling (“Edu-Scholar Public Presence Rankings”)
He serves as Co-Principal Investigator on two school leadership grants from the U.S. Department of Education ($6.7 million) and as Principal Investigator in a project titled, “Waivering as Governance: A New Model of Federalism in Education” from the Spencer Foundation. He is a member of NC State University’s Academy of Outstanding Teachers.
