Impacting Research & Policy

Serving Texas

The College of Education is committed to creating research that drives meaningful change for children, families, schools and communities across Texas. Our faculty, researchers and students work at the intersection of evidence, policy and practice—developing solutions that address the state’s most urgent educational challenges. Through collaborative partnerships, interdisciplinary expertise and a deep commitment to public impact, we transform research into action that strengthens learning environments and improves outcomes statewide.

Across our research centers and statewide initiatives, we bring together practitioners, policymakers and community stakeholders to ensure that data‑driven insights lead to effective, scalable solutions. Networks like LONESTARP3 unite researchers and policy advocates to tackle pressing issues through research‑based programs; the Center for Research to Community Impact (CRCI) bridges scientific findings with real‑world implementation; and the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk advances knowledge in areas including literacy, STEM, bilingual education, early childhood learning and special education. These efforts, alongside initiatives such as IPSI and the National Deaf Center, ensure that our research reaches the communities that need it most.

Together, this work reflects the College’s commitment to shaping policy, strengthening educational practice, and supporting the success of all learners across Texas. Through rigorous research and collaborative action, we continue to inform decisions, inspire innovation, and contribute to a stronger, more effective educational system for the state.

National Deaf Center for Postsecondary Outcomes

As deaf people leave high school and prepare for college or careers, the National Deaf Center (NDC) wants them to succeed. Our research shows that deaf people are not completing college degrees, getting jobs or earning as much as hearing people. We’re here to change that.
