Student - College of Education

Avery (she/her/hers) is a second-year masters student in the Higher Education Leadership and Policy program. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of WisconsinMadison and holds a K9 teaching license in Wisconsin. Avery currently serves as a graduate assistant for basic needs through the Texas Student Experience, where she advocates for improved student access to affordable food and housing resources. In addition, Avery serves as the Vice President of the Graduate Student Assembly and graduate research assistant to Dr. Michael Goodman in the College of Education.

I am interested in researching best policies and practices for increasing college access for historically marginalized student groups, with a focus on broadening access to higher education for rural students across the United States.

Studies education policy and social stratification related to college entrance and completion in the United States; focuses on college pathways at broad-access institutions, including community colleges.
