Isaac Awortwe

I am an Early Childhood Education researcher with international experience from the USA and Ghana. My focus is on promoting the academic growth and well-being of all young children through a holistic, child-centered approach. I hold a Master of Philosophy Degree and a Bachelor of Education Degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Education, Winneba (Ghana). With a passion for creating a conducive school environment for young children, my research focuses on fostering curiosity, ingenuity, critical thinking, and children's holistic development through play-based learning and exploration. As an early childhood education (ECE) researcher, educator, instructor, and professional development coach, I research educational curricula and practices, specifically focused on advancing the development and implementation of evidence-based early childhood education (ECE) systems that integrate innovative curriculum design and teacher training. From a Critical, culturally and Historically Relevant pedagogy and Revolutionary Love stance, my research broadly examines how early childhood educators act as cultural gatekeepers in instructional decisions and children’s learning experiences. My research interests span a wide spectrum, including Culturally Appropriate Play Experiences; children's home-school transition; children's agency in ECE Classrooms; Child Safety and Supervision; and Early Childhood Teacher Education. I have published in the Journal of Early Childhood Teacher Education, the Research Journal of Education, and the European Journal of Education. I maintain full and active membership in the American Educational Research Association, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Council for Exceptional Children, and the National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators. I am passionate about teaching and aspire to be a professor and scholar in Early Childhood Education, contributing to curriculum development and implementation.
