Samuel Torres-Berrum (Sam Torres) was born in Austin, TX, and raised in a small town southeast of Austin called Cedar Creek, TX. Sam currently serves as a Senior Academic Advisor at The University of Texas at Austin's College of Education, assisting undergraduate students with their academic goals.
He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas Permian Basin.
Sam is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Higher Education Leadership at The University of Texas at Austin.
His research interests revolve around sense of belonging and its impact on degree attainment and persistence, particularly with first-generation Latino/a students. Upon graduating, he hopes to work in a role where he can implement programming that fosters sense of belonging for first-generation and Latino/a students at four-year institutions.
During his free time, Sam enjoys listening to country music and dancing two-step.
