Saul Barrera is a doctoral student in the Cultural Studies of Education program at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. His research focuses on Mexican and Mexican American identity, Mexican American theories, and resistance as an agency. Saul serves as a Graduate Assistant for the Terry Scholars and Dean of Students and as an Academic Support Specialist in Athletics. He has co-authored publications on culturally relevant social studies and resistance strategies in education and has received several prestigious scholarships, including the Bascombe Royall and Frances Fallon Fuller Scholarship and the Richard A. Porky Endowed Graduate Fellowship in Teacher Education. Saul holds an M.A. in Psychology from Carlow University and a B.S. in Psychology from Union Commonwealth University, Kentucky. A proud Chicano from Bowling Green, Kentucky.
