Stephany D Rea is a 2nd-year HDCLS doctoral student at the Educational Psychology Department at UT Austin. She grew up in Brazil and moved to the United States in 2014 to learn English. She recently graduated with her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Quinnipiac University (QU), CT in May 2021. She was involved in research projects at QU under the mentorship of Dr. Amy M. Smith in which they looked at the effects of stress on memory and interventions for memory impaired by academic stress.

In Fall 2021, she joined UT as a PhD student and she is advised by Dr. Veronica Yan in the Science of Learning and Metacognition Lab (SLAM) .

Her research interests involve effective learning strategies and teaching methods, desirable difficulty, motivation, and metacognition in higher education and STEM.

Beyond academic life, she enjoys reading thriller and mystery books, baking, and hiking.
