Austin Independent School District Future Teacher Scholarship
The Austin Independent School District (AISD), in a collaborative effort with The University of Texas at Austin and other teacher preparation programs in Travis County, has established a fund for future teachers seeking certification in state-recognized critical shortage subject areas. These areas include:
- Special Education
- Bilingual Education
- Languages Other than English
- Mathematics
- Sciences
Who is Eligible?
- Students who are seeking initial teacher certification in one of the shortage areas are eligible for this scholarship if they are full-time students and have a 2.5 UT GPA.
- Undergraduates are eligible to receive $1,000, $1,000, $1,500 and $1,500 for the last four semesters of their program, and post-baccalaureate and graduate students can receive $1,500 for each of their last four semesters.
How to Apply
Students who are eligible to apply will be emailed application instructions. Students must re-apply each semester.
Application opens: 1st class day
Application deadline: 12th class day
College of Education students should contact their academic advisor with questions. UTeach students should contact their advisor in Natural Sciences or Liberal Arts.
