Creating Learning Environments That Support Our Bold Vision
The George I. Sánchez Building and L. Theo Bellmont Hall serve as the primary hubs of the College of Education. Made possible through the generosity of donors and university investments, both buildings have undergone significant improvements that enhance teaching, research, collaboration and student success. These revitalized spaces, together with Howardena Pindell’s “Autobiography: Circles,” presented through UT Austin’s Landmarks public art program, and the renowned H.J. Lutcher Stark Center for Physical Culture and Sports, create a vibrant environment for learning, discovery and engagement.
Building Highlights
Earlier renovations transformed classrooms, labs, offices, student spaces and gathering areas throughout the Sánchez Building and Bellmont Hall. With Phase 1 now complete, the college is entering Phase 2 of its campus renewal efforts: turning the Sánchez Plaza into a welcoming outdoor destination for connection and community.
The Sánchez Plaza is being redesigned into a welcoming outdoor destination that encourages learning, connection and community beyond the classroom. With support from donors and champions of the college, the renovation will create an accessible, sustainable and vibrant gathering space that enhances the college experience.

Bellmont Hall has been revitalized to advance education, health and sport. Renovations have created modern environments for learning and research as well as collaboration spaces for students, faculty and staff.
