Biography

Tenzin Dekyi recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education. She was born in Lhasa, Tibet and came to exile in India when she was six years old. She did her schooling from Tibetan Children’s Village School (T.C.V) and her B. A and M.A in India.

Before coming to the United States, Tenzin with Tibetan NGOs for three years including working as a coordinator to conduct Early Grade Reading workshops for young Tibetan refugee parents living in Tibetan settlements across India. While at UT Austin, she worked as a Graduate Assistant at the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child & Family Laboratory.

Tenzin’s current work is focused on supporting early childhood education in Tibetan refugee communities across India and Nepal. She is working at the Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration in India as a Pre-primary Education Coordinator.
