Charles Stocking specializes in the history and philosophy of the body, sport, and physical culture from Ancient Greece to the present. He is the author of several books on the relationship between ancient and modern sport including Homer's Iliad and the Problem of Force (Oxford 2023) and Ancient Greek Athletics: Primary Sources in Translation (Oxford 2021). Charles has also been certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and served as a strength and conditioning coach for UCLA Athletics from 2004-2008, where he coached seven different varsity teams as well as individual Olympic athletes.
