Elizet Hernández Kneisler (Moret) serves as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Kneisler (Moret) is a national educational leader that advocates for the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students. She has dedicated her career to support emergent bilingual students and their families by promoting access to equitable education.
In recent years, Hernández Kneisler has served as the coordinator of Bilingual/ESL programs, Title III, and Migrant Education program at the Education Service Center-Region 13. At the state level, she worked at Texas Education Agency (TEA) on the commissioner's initiative of Dual Language Immersion (DLI) and collaborated with the development of the first DLI state rubrics. At the national level, she has served as a bilingual consultant for the Center of Applied Linguistics. Her work focuses on biliteracy practices, translanguaging pedagogy, and dual language programming. She has been a contributing author for Drs. Wayne Thomas and Virginia Collier's book Transforming Secondary Education: Middle and High School Dual Language Programs.
Hernández Kniesler is a first-generation college graduate and received her bachelor's degree in Spanish with a minor in Mass Communications from Texas State University. She holds a Latin American Business Certificate from Texas State University in partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce and Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Tec de Monterrey). She received her master's in Bilingual/Bicultural Studies in Education from Texas State University and her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
