Dr. Monaco received a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science with a minor in Nutrition from The University of Utah, an M.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Performance and Conditioning from A.T. Still University and earned a Ph.D. in Health and Human Performance from Concordia University-Chicago. Dr. Monaco is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Strength Coach and Certified Sports Nutrition Specialist with the National Council on Strength & Fitness.

Professionally, Monaco has experience in many different areas including strength and conditioning programming for high school, collegiate and professional athletes; curriculum development for fitness professionals; and physiological assessment and exercise program design for chronic disease populations, specifically cancer and diabetes.

Monaco has contributed as a subject matter expert (SME) on the development of NCCA-accredited strength coach and personal trainer certifications for the National Council on Strength & Fitness and the Cooper Institute. In addition to teaching courses in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education, Monaco will be working with the Fitness Institute of Texas (FIT) performing submaximal and maximal cardiorespiratory testing.
