Kemper Lipscomb is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research has focused on students' participation in modeling and computational thinking in the context of collaborative scientific investigations. She has been a part of teams that have published books, papers, and presentations relating to these issues. Her current role at the University of Texas at Austin focuses more heavily on teaching undergraduate pre-service teaching courses, with a teaching philosophy rooted in theories of learning that stress the importance of providing students the opportunity to learn through participating in disciplinary practices, making sense of complex phenomena by drawing on students' diverse funds of knowledge. This allows students to better understand the world in which we live, so that they may become agents of change within it.
