Student - College of Education

Alexis is a third year doctoral student in the Cultural Studies in Education program. She holds a B.S. in elementary education and a M.Ed. in special education from the University of Delaware. Alexis joined Teach For America as a 2015 corps member. She was placed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she taught third grade for four years.

Alexis research interest's focus on Black women teachers, Black girls and resistance. Specifically, she is interested in how Black women teacher pedagogically create space for Black children to develop and enact their civic identities.
