Catherine Ramirez is a doctoral student and research assistant in the Program in Higher Education Leadership at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests include educational access and equity for former foster care youth in higher education, campus support programs for former foster care youth, and issues of graduate student labor.

Catherine earned her MA in English from Kansas State University where she specialized in cultural studies. Before coming to UT, Catherine was a program assistant for FACES, a former foster care support program at Texas State University. Prior to that, she taught diversity-centered expository writing courses for three years at public institutions and worked as a writing center consultant. In 2018, Catherine was awarded the Midwestern Association of Graduate School (MAGS) Excellence in Teaching Award at the master’s level. Her work has appeared in Brock Education: A Journal of Educational Research and Practice.
