Jennifer Hewett is a doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction at The University of Texas at Austin, with a focus on Language and Literacy Studies. Previously, Jennifer was an elementary school teacher in Munich, Germany, and Washington State, working with students in intermediate grades and serving as a cooperating teacher for student teachers. Jennifer earned her B.S. from The University of Texas at Austin and her M.Ed. from Harvard University, specializing in language and literacy studies. At UT, she has worked as a field supervisor, teaching assistant, assistant instructor, and graduate research assistant. Jennifers research interests include multiliteracies, arts-integrated and drama-based pedagogies, childrens literature, preservice teacher preparation, coaching and mentoring preservice and early career teachers, and culturally sustaining approaches to literacy instruction. Her work centers teacher education contexts and aims to support equitable, meaningful literacy learning for both teachers and students.
