Jinane Sounny-Slitine is pursuing a doctoral degree in the Program for Higher Education Leadership at The University of Texas at Austin. She currently serves as the Undergraduate Programs Coordinator for the Steve Hicks School of Social Work.

She has years of experience working within the field of higher education and social work. She has an extensive background in establishing and coordinating undergraduate advising policies, peer mentor programs, and creating and delivering trainings and program curriculum across higher education and the non-profit sector. Through her experiences, Jinane has gained interest in dismantling systematic educational barriers affecting minoritized groups of students and applying Critical Race Theory when designing advising practices and policies and peer mentor programs.

Jinane completed her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Sciences: Personal and Family Relationships at The University of Texas at Austin and her Master of Social Work: Direct Practice from Texas State University. Her research interest include the Arab/MENA (Middle Eastern/North African) American student experience at predominantly white institutions, academic advising, and equitable policy making.
