Marcelino Saucedo

Marcelino J. Saucedo is a third-year doctoral student in the PhD Bilingual/Bicultural Education Program, teaching assistant, and field supervisor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at The University of Texas at Austin. He has presented at the city, state, and national level. Mr. Saucedo is interested in phonics, reading, writing, student academic success, bilingualism, biliteracy, biculturalism, and higher education. His research interests include family language policy, linguistics, translanguaging, transnationalism, Spanish language loss, home language development and maintenance in bilingual and multilingual households, second language acquisition, pre-service teachers, teaching, learning, and social justice. He is an active member of the Texas Association for Bilingual Education, the American Educational Research Association, and the National Council of Teachers of English. His first published manuscript which is based on his Master's Thesis: “Para crecer en todo con lo que está pasando en el mundo”: Learning home language practices from padres mexicanos para promover bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural children, was featured in the AERA (American Educational Research Association) Graduate Student Council December 2025 Newsletter. At UT-Austin, Marcelino serves as a program representative in the Graduate Student Assembly, and he is a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi.
