Growing up as an Austin native, Sara graduated from Southwestern University in Kinesiology and continued her education here at the University of Texas at Austin pursuing in Health Education and Health Behavior. Before her graduate studies, she was a collegiate athlete and served her community coaching high school tennis in Vietnamese-populated areas throughout Austin; with the intent of engaging in physical activity. Sara's area of research focuses on the built environment, physical activity, and spatial epidemiology. She hopes to promote physical activity in minority populations and also help with urban research to provide environmental resources and develop health policies for those in need.
Deborah Salvo (Supervisor)My research interests and expertise center in the reduction of spatial health disparities in access to environments that enable physically active lifestyles.
