Support Our Bold Vision

Centering our Students in the Heart of the College of Education

Only twice in the college’s 125-year history have Texas Education students had a new learning environment—first in 1918 when Sutton Hall opened and again in 1975 when the college moved into the new Education Building, which was rededicated in 1995 as the George I. Sánchez Building.

In 2018, the college began planning for the first comprehensive renovation of the Sánchez Building since it opened. This $15 million investment centers our students right where they belong—in the heart of the college. Equally important, the renovation provides Texas Education students with modern and inviting spaces that reflect the caliber of our students and our programs and mirror UT’s commitment to excellence.

Bold and Transformational Student Spaces

Main Lobby

A cornerstone of the renovation will be the more expansive and welcoming lobby. The Main Lobby is the front door to our nationally ranked College of Education and a gateway to four of our five nationally ranked departments. The lobby, which will come online this fall, will be a hub for students, faculty, and researchers and will welcome visitors to the college.
