Choose Your Path to a Certification
Undergraduate Minor or Concentration
Obtain a minor or concentration that leads to teacher certification in either English Language Arts or Social Studies. This 18-hour, three-semester sequence is designed for students who are working on a bachelor’s degree and want to pursue teacher certification by minoring in Education.
Post-baccalaureate Certification
Gain a teacher certification through a pos-tbaccalaureate pathway that offers a flexible 18-hour, three-semester sequence. The program is designed for students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree and are interested in teaching middle or high school social studies.
Graduate Certificate in English Language Arts
Earn a Texas Teaching Certificate with a 21-hour stackable graduate certification program that prepares students to teach English Language Arts in grades 7–12. This flexible pathway allows students up to six years to apply their credits toward the 42-hour M.Ed. program, making it possible to teach full-time while pursuing a graduate degree.
Master of Education and Teacher Certification Programs
Obtain a Master of Education (M.Ed.) while participating in our teacher preparation program. The program is designed to develop knowledge, skills, and dispositions to support teaching and learning in linguistically and culturally diverse urban settings.
