UTeach Urban Teachers


This program prepares English and Social Studies educators to thrive in the context of urban schools. UTeach Urban Teachers is a Texas teacher certification program for grades 7-12 and specifically focuses on valuing the diverse linguistic and cultural resources students bring into the classroom.

Undergraduate Secondary Certification Programs

This 18 hour, three-semester sequence begins in the summer before senior year and is tailored for undergraduate students at UT Austin working toward a bachelor’s degree in one of many majors.

Master of Education with Secondary English Certification

The program is designed to develop knowledge, skills, and dispositions to support teaching and learning in linguistically and culturally diverse urban settings.

Master of Education with Secondary Social Studies Certification

In this two-year program, candidates will gain research-based and practical knowledge of teaching through extensive field experience and coursework.
