Description

Join the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education (KHE) for its 42nd Annual Alderson Lecture and Awards Ceremony. Honoring the late Dr. C.J. (Shorty) and Dr. Mary Buice Alderson, this annual celebration welcomes prominent leaders in the field of Kinesiology and Health Education to lead the conversation around current industry trends and challenges.

Keynote presenter and state director for Texas WIC Edgar Curtis will lead the conversation during his talk “Swinging doors: Your degree opens doors, will you knock quietly or barge through.” The annual award ceremony will follow the discussion to recognize outstanding students and exceptional faculty for their significant contributions.

Light refreshments will be provided and no registration is required. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

About the Speaker

Edgar Curtis

Edgar Curtis
State Director, Texas WIC

Curtis worked with professional rugby league teams for over a decade in New Zealand, England and Australia. He assisted National teams in preparation for World Cup and International Test Matches. He planned and organized international tours / training camps for professional athletes in 8 countries. He has lectured on performance enhancement and exercise physiology for several national and international organizations and governing bodies and holds multiple athletic performance-related certifications. Currently, Curtis serves as the state director for Texas WIC, ensuring Women Infants and Children get a good start to life. Previously he served at the Texas Department of Agriculture in child nutrition programs as the director over program improvement, policy and education.
