Alyssa began her career as an English language assistant in a high-poverty region of southern Spain, followed by five years as a middle school science teacher at a Title 1 charter school in Dallas. Her time spent in those classroom settings motivates her academic research interests: school choice, school segregation, and urban education. In particular, she is interested in investigating the relationship between charter schools and segregation and the efficacy of various choice schools, particularly in urban areas.
