Brandon L. Wooley comes to the University of Texas with a Criminal Justice and Theology background. His research interests seek to understand the intersectionality between faith-based organizations and educational institutions. More specifically, he is interested in researching how the Black church can use its agency and autonomy to fulfill its responsibility to create community partnerships within local schools that are in place to subvert the school-to-prison pipeline and close the educational achievement gap for African-American students. In addition to being a doctoral student, Brandon serves as a youth and young adult pastor, a social justice activist, and a child advocate.
